DEWAG:
Franke Gear Works was one of a very limited number of producers of Double Enveloping Worm And Gear sets, or DEWAG in the US. Unlike conventional worm and gear sets, the DEWAG worm is hourglass shaped to fit exactly the curvature of the worm gear, and the gear is throated to fit the worm radius. As a result, DEWAG achieves a larger tooth bearing area and multiple tooth contact, which results in higher torque output from a smaller unit. Chicago Gear - D.O. James Corporation can now produce DEWAG sets tailored to your specific high torque or accurate index needs in center distances ranging from 1" to 10". Chicago Gear - D.O. James Corporation can satisfy practically all your rack needs. We can produce new racks, both precision ground, and accurately shaped, or upgrade your existing racks by heat treating and grinding them fro exceptional accuracy, strength and extra wear life. We can guarantee power / feedback racks with total index accuracy within .00003", per rack per 230' machine, using our computerized laser certification process. The quality achievalbe can exceed AGMA 15. We can also produce accurately shaped racks for small instruments, and also power racks up to 30' long.
